The Meaning Behind the ECHAM Training Logo

ECHAM Icon

At ECHAM Training, our logo is more than a visual identity. It is a story. It reflects how we teach, how we learn, and how we walk alongside people and Country in the work we do.

Our logo was created by Lauren Henry, a proud Wodi Wodi Walbunja woman and First Nations Cultural Creative Lead at Yirra Miya, a collaborative First Nations creative agency whose name means “growing together” in Wiradjuri.

From the outset, the design process focused on ensuring the logo carried cultural meaning, respect and purpose that aligned with ECHAM Training’s values.

A Place of Learning and Knowledge Sharing

At the centre of the logo is a watering hole, representing the flow of knowledge.

In many Aboriginal cultures, watering holes are places of gathering, learning and exchange. In the ECHAM Training logo, the circular form reflects knowledge moving outward like ripples, symbolising learning that extends beyond the classroom and into workplaces, communities and Country.

This reflects our commitment to training that has real impact and supports people to carry knowledge forward in meaningful ways.

People Coming Together

Surrounding the centre are people symbols, representing individuals coming together to learn, share knowledge and create safe learning spaces.

ECHAM Training was established to support inclusive, culturally safe education. These symbols acknowledge that learning is strongest when it is collective, respectful and grounded in shared experience rather than hierarchy.

They also reflect our belief that everyone brings knowledge with them, and that training should value lived experience as much as formal instruction.

Walking Forward on Country

The journey lines in the logo represent movement and continuity.

They symbolise ECHAM Training’s approach of walking forward with respect, guided by culture, community and Country. The flowing lines reflect adaptability, growth and the understanding that learning is ongoing rather than fixed.

This is particularly important in cultural heritage and land-based training, where responsibility, care and long-term thinking are essential.

Momentum and Progress

The kangaroo tracks included in the design represent forward momentum.

In Aboriginal symbolism, kangaroo tracks often signify progress and moving ahead. For ECHAM Training, they reflect our focus on practical outcomes, skills development and empowering people to move confidently into employment, compliance roles and cultural heritage work.

They also acknowledge that progress must always be grounded in respect for culture and Country, not speed alone.

Designed with Cultural Integrity

The logo was created with a strong emphasis on Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP), ensuring that symbols and meanings are used respectfully and appropriately.

Working with Yirra Miya and Lauren ensured the logo was not only visually strong, but culturally informed and authentic. This aligns with ECHAM Training’s broader commitment to ethical practice, community respect and cultural authority in everything we do.

More Than a Logo

Every time our logo appears on training materials, certificates or digital platforms, it serves as a reminder of why ECHAM Training exists.

It represents:

  • Learning that flows outward and creates impact
  • Safe spaces where people come together
  • Respectful journeys guided by Country
  • Forward momentum grounded in culture

We are proud to carry this story forward and grateful to Lauren and Yirra Miya for helping bring it to life.
