CULTURAL HERITAGE TRAINING ACROSS NEW ENGLAND

From Tamworth on Gomeroi (Kamilaroi) Country to Armidale on Anaiwan Country, New England is one of the fastest-changing landscapes in NSW. The New England Renewable Energy Zone is bringing large solar, wind and transmission projects to the tablelands, and each one involves Aboriginal cultural heritage assessment, consultation with Registered Aboriginal Parties and inducted site crews.

That creates real demand for people who can recognise cultural sites, support heritage surveys and understand their obligations on site, and for Aboriginal community members who want to work on Country in these roles. ECHAM Training’s courses are built for exactly that, with online study and practical on-Country components.

NEW ENGLAND TRAINING FAQS

Large projects in the New England Renewable Energy Zone go through Aboriginal cultural heritage assessment as part of their approvals, and their management plans commonly require inductions for workers and contractors. Our online Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Site Induction gives crews the core knowledge before they arrive on site. Always check your project’s specific conditions.

Yes. Course theory is online, so you can study from Tamworth, Armidale, Glen Innes, Inverell or anywhere in the region. Practical on-Country sessions are scheduled with each intake, and we confirm the details when you enrol.

The AHC32522 Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Sites Work builds the skills to identify, record and care for cultural sites under the guidance of Elders and cultural authorities. For a shorter start, the Recognise and Report on cultural sites skill sets cover site recognition and reporting.
